Can you introduce yourself in a few words?

Camille

My name is Camille. I am married and a mother of three children, two daughters and a son. Originally from Marseille, I now live in the Paris region, in Asnières-sur-Seine.

Tell us about your career and how you joined Argos.

Camille

I started my career at KPMG, auditing large corporations. After three years, I joined the Transaction Services team at Grant Thornton, and I was there for 10 years. Then I took my first role as head of admin and finance in the lobbying sector, where I stayed for three years, and now I’m at Argos. After three years at my previous firm, I realised I wanted to focus on transformational impact rather than just native impact. While innovation is key, we also need a transition in the broader economy. I believed I could contribute to a fund that has this kind of strategic focus, which led me to Argos and their Argos Climate Actions initiative.

Is this the path you thought you would take when you started your studies?

Camille

Not exactly. When I was at business school, all of the finance students wanted to work in the financial markets, but because the subprime crisis happened a few months before I entered the job market, I had to change direction quickly.

The world of private equity has changed significantly in recent years. How would you define private equity? What is your perception of it?

Camille

Private equity funds were my clients when I worked in Transaction Services. Climate and ESG issues were not as central in the sector as they are today. It is encouraging to see the evolution and the shift that this industry has taken.

Are there any specific encounters – or moments – that have stood out for you in your journey at Argos?

Camille

My first meeting with Karel Kroupa: if that hadn’t happened, I wouldn’t be here today.

You interact with managers every day. Which entrepreneurs do you admire in your market?

Camille

Probably Morgane Sézalory, founder of the fashion brand Sézane. She understood how the market for mid-range ready-to-wear womenswear was changing before anyone else. She’s exactly the same age as me, and also the mother of three children. She’s an amazing success story.

How do you balance your professional and personal life? (e.g. family, sports, etc.)

Camille

I organise my week with military precision, but then I let go at the weekend and during holidays.

Outside of your job, what are your passions or commitments?

Camille

Mainly my family, but I’m also involved in my local church. I run a bible studies class for primary school-age children. My family has been Protestant for centuries, and I’m very keen to continue the tradition.

How do you see yourself in the future?

Camille

I’m not very good at looking ahead in that way. I believe that life is full of opportunities, and it’s important to take them when they come along.

“Private equity funds were my clients when I worked in Transaction Services. Climate and ESG issues were not as central in the sector as they are today.”

Can you tell us about a place that’s important to you: one that inspires you and helps you maintain your balance?

Camille

There’s a small hamlet of around 20 houses in the Belledonne mountains in the Isère region of France: it’s 900 m above sea level and has a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. I’ve got very happy childhood memories of that place, and I often go back there with my family.

In another life, you would be…?

Camille

Exactly where I am in this life!
